North Korea (DPRK)
Exploring the self-proclaimed Socialist Paradise that is the Democratic People’s of Korea, or North Korea, is something often done in groups, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t possible to visit as an independent traveller. If you’re interested in visiting, get in touch and we’ll design a customised itinerary to hit all the hotspots and highlights across North Korea.

Mongolia
Known as the ‘Outdoor Capital of the World’, a visit to Mongolia is sure to be jam-packed with real adventure and exploration; whether you’re travelling out to the mountains in the far west, the wide-open plains of the Gobi Desert in the south, or the majestic steppe which dominates the heart of the country, travelling independently through Mongolia is the epitome of true adventure!

Turkmenistan
Exploring Turkmenistan as a solo traveller always guarantees an incredible experience. Whether it’s camping by the rim of the burning ‘Gateway to Hell’ that is the Darvaza Gas Crater, exploring the marble city of Ashgabat, or going for a wander through the bizarre, yet charming Awaza resort on the shores of the mighty Caspian Sea – Turkmenistan has something for everyone!

Tajikistan
Tajikistan sits at the heart of Central Asia; the perfect place for an adventure through the mountains of the High Pamirs, or perhaps a visit down south to peer across the border in the wilds of neighbouring Afghanistan. The country is peppered with reminders of its Soviet history and the solo traveller will always be welcome at the communist-era Khoja Obi Garm Health Spa for a scrub down before exploring the villages nestled in the deep northern valleys.

Iran
Modern Iran is a crashing together of millennia of history as Ancient Persia combines with the modern Islamic Republic of Iran, established in 1979 in a revolution against the monarchy. Today, Iran often hits the headlines, but what’s ignored is the incredible culture, friendly people and stunning scenery which can be found in all corners of this fascinating country, from the Caspian Sea in the north to the Straits of Hormuz in the south.

Kyrgyzstan
Known as the Capital of Mountains, the Republic of Kyrgyzstan really lives up to its name – for decades under Soviet rule, workers and officials flooded the small Soviet Republic to relax on the shores of Lake Issyk Kul, although much of the rest of the country was dotted with uranium mines and was sealed off from visitors. Today, nothing is off-limits to the solo adventurer – whether it’s local villages, former secret mining towns or salt-filled lakes!
